Here’s my portfolio update for September 2025. It was another strong month where my strategy outperformed all major US indices, while also lowering my overall risk score,  a very positive development.

  • Risk Score: 4 (reduced from previous months)

US Market Recap

September saw a strong finish for major US indexes, but my portfolio outperformed them all:

  • S&P 500: +3.53%

  • Dow Jones: +1.87%

  • Nasdaq: +5.61%

Key drivers of the month:

  • Federal Reserve cuts rates: A 25 bps cut (to 4.00–4.25%) marked the start of a modest easing cycle, supporting equity valuations.

  • AI and Big Tech rally: Nvidia, Alphabet, Microsoft and others pushed markets higher on AI enthusiasm.

  • Labour market concerns: Private ADP data showed a decline in payrolls, while a government shutdown disrupted official releases, raising uncertainty.

  • Sentiment: Markets climbed, but confidence softened, reflecting worries about jobs and prices.

  • Bitcoin (BTC): +5.38%

  • Ethereum (ETH): –5.61%

My risk score is now 4, reduced compared to previous months, excellent news for managing long-term stability while achieving strong returns.

Outlook for October

October starts with uncertainty due to the US government shutdown, which delays key economic data. Investors will watch private surveys, Fed commentary, and Q3 earnings season mid-month for direction. While sentiment remains positive, leadership is narrow (AI/tech), which could mean more volatility if earnings disappoint.

My strategy remains unchanged: monitor markets daily, adjust positions strategically, and continue maximising returns while keeping a medium-risk profile.

  1. Invest a minimum of $2,000: This ensures proper diversification and mirrors my portfolio effectively.
  2. Focus on the long term: Keep the copy open for an extended period to benefit from compounding and market recoveries.
