Market Insights: June 2025
June 2025 marked another solid month for financial markets, with continued strength in U.S. equities and select crypto assets. Investors remained focused on macroeconomic signals, central bank policy guidance, and geopolitical developments that shaped the risk landscape.
Portfolio Performance: +8.40%
My portfolio benefited from strong exposure to tech, select AI and semiconductors and some cryptocurrencies.
U.S. Stock Market Performance
U.S. stocks continued their upward trajectory in June
-
S&P 500: +4.96%
-
Dow Jones Industrial Average: +4.32%
-
Nasdaq Composite: +6.57%
Key catalysts included:
-
Inflation & CPI Data:
May’s CPI (released in June) showed a 0.1% month-over-month increase, slightly below the 0.2% consensus. Core CPI also rose just 0.1%.
Year-over-year, headline CPI came in at 2.4%, with core CPI steady at 2.8%. This reinforced investor hopes that the Fed may be nearing the end of its tightening cycle. -
Federal Reserve Policy & SEP Outlook:
The FOMC held rates steady at 4.25–4.50%, in line with expectations.
The Summary of Economic Projections (SEP) signalled two rate cuts by year-end, alongside adjusted forecasts for inflation and GDP.
Fed Chair Powell maintained a cautious tone, citing ongoing uncertainty and the possible inflationary impact of tariffs, but reaffirmed a data-driven and patient approach. -
Geopolitical Risks & Relief:
Geopolitical tensions spiked mid-month after President Trump abruptly exited the G-7 Summit, followed by sharp comments on Iran’s Supreme Leader via Truth Social. This triggered short-term volatility across risk assets.
However, sentiment improved with Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, easing fears of escalation. -
U.S.- China Trade Progress:
A new trade framework agreement between the U.S. and China was confirmed in late June, offering relief from global trade anxiety and further boosting equity markets.
Cryptocurrency Market
Crypto markets were more subdued in June, with Bitcoin showing modest gains while Ethereum cooled slightly after a strong run in May:
-
Bitcoin: +2.46%
-
Ethereum: -1.64%
Portfolio Snapshot
Current Asset Allocation:
- 33% Stocks
- 43% ETFs
- 13% Crypto
- 11% Cash
My risk score has been 6 throughout May. I have closed some positions to reduce the risk and portfolio volatility.
Outlook
Heading into July, I’m keeping a close eye on several key drivers: potential Fed policy shifts, inflation surprises, and any further geopolitical flare-ups that could impact investor sentiment.
My strategy remains the same: monitor the markets daily, make strategic adjustments, and maximise returns while keeping a medium-risk profile.
Recommendations for Copiers
If you’re considering copying my portfolio, here’s how to make the most of it:
- Invest a minimum of $2,000: This ensures proper diversification and mirrors my portfolio effectively.
- Focus on the long term: Keep the copy open for an extended period to benefit from compounding and market recoveries.
- Starting smaller? Begin with a lower amount and add funds later to build your investment.
Now is still an excellent time to start copying my portfolio or to add more funds if you’re already a copier.
Goals for 2025
- Outperform the S&P 500: Aim for another year of market-leading performance.
- Maintain a medium risk score: Balance risk and reward effectively.
- Achieve Champion Popular Investor status: Grow and strengthen our investment community.
